The University of Portsmouth Ageing Network (UPAN) is a support system, bringing together a broad scope of knowledge and expertise to address the ‘Active Ageing’ agenda.
Healthy active ageing is now a global concern; with the continuing increase in life expectancy, the demographic make-up of society at local, national and international platforms is changing, providing new challenges and many new and exciting opportunities for collaborative and interdisciplinary projects. UPAN hopes to make the most of these opportunities to make an impact on society, the economy, and to academia.

At a glance:
- UPAN thrives on the capacity and capabilities of individuals who make up the network. These individuals come from all academic disciplines across the University and externally from the wider academic, business and social communities,
- The individuals that make up UPAN manage four streams of activities: research; knowledge exchange; community outreach; and education,
- Through our communications UPAN helps facilitate projects large and small, grow capacity, and formulate collaborative ‘ageing’ links to ensure timely and co-ordinated responses to research, education, community, and business engagement opportunities.
We are pleased to announce that the University of Portsmouth Students Union is working with AgeUK Portsmouth in their volunteering scheme: Let's Paint. The scheme, supported by Dulux, will see The Bradbury Centre in Fratton transformed in to a lively arena with a fresh new coat of paint to make it a warm and inviting space for people to come together in.
