Environment Network (UPEN)
UPEN will:
- Promote and facilitate excellence in environment-related learning and teaching and research and knowledge transfer, across all areas of the University.
- Strengthen environment-related collaborations within the University community and help to develop new links between academics, businesses and communities at local, national and international levels.
- Support efforts to improve the environmental performance of the University.
Promote
Develop the reputation of UPEN, so as to be fully supported by University staff and students.
Publicise opportunities and achievements whenever and wherever possible.
Encourage collaboration between University departments.
Strengthen
Raise the profile of UPEN at local, national and international levels.
Increase the opportunity for interaction between specialists of different disciplines and professions.
Enable members to deliver benefits for the whole University and local community.
Support
Extend environmental issues to the public and seek ways in which our expertise can be used more widely to benefit the regional community.
Actively pursue opportunities that fully incorporate the ideas and challenges faced by the University through carbon reduction and sustainable development into our curricula and research.
Deliver
Expand portfolio of taught programmes, particularly at postgraduate level, and increase the uptake of environment-related units where possible.
Organise seminars, colloquia and networking events to disseminate information and generate ideas for new environment-related activities.
Ensure that income from R&KT in environment-related areas grows.
