Head of BBC digital switchover scheme to speak at University
Fri, Jan 27, 2012
Peter White, a former Economics student at the University, is responsible for ensuring that older and disabled people are not left with blank television screens as the nation goes from analogue to digital by 2012.
He will speak to members of the public at 6pm on Thursday 2 February about managing the help scheme.
The digital rollout began in the Border television region in Scotland and Cumbria in 2008. It has moved throughout the UK, and will end with the London and Meridian regions, which switch in the next few months.
Peter has previously worked in a number of senior roles in the BBC including Operations Director, in BBC's New Media & Technology Division, Director of Financial Operations, and Finance Director for Nations and Regions.
Dean of the Portsmouth Business School, Professor Gioia Pescetto, said: “I’m delighted that Peter is taking time out of his busy schedule to talk at the University. It will be fascinating to hear about the digital switchover project, especially now it is in full swing.”
Admission is free, but places are limited so please make a reservation by contacting events@port.ac.uk or 023 9284 3757.
