Biography

Imam Arafat joined Portsmouth Business School as a Lecturer in Accounting and Financial Management in August 2016. Prior to that, Imam spent three years at the University of Dundee as a tutor where he taught various financial and management accounting modules to undergraduate and postgraduate students. He is a PhD candidate at the same university. His PhD thesis, fully funded by the University of Dundee, is examining the institutional determinants of fair value disclosure of listed companies. Imam secured overall distinction with distinction in all modules in his Master of Research degree. He was awarded prestigious ‘the most outstanding masters student of the University of Dundee, School of Business’ for his extraordinary academic performance.

Research

Research interests include accounting regulation, fair value accounting, financial reporting and disclosures and accounting for Small and Medium-sized entities (SMEs)
