Dr Song Zhang serves as a Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Financial Management at Portsmouth Business School. Prior to his appointment at Portsmouth, he held academic positions at Lancashire Business School and Surrey Business School and taught a variety of accounting and finance modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, e.g. International Finance, Research Methods, etc.

Song's best teaching performance in the normal class is 4.5/5.0 (Corporate Finance and Valuation, Level 7, 2014/2015).
Song has a PhD degree in small business finance and has published peer-reviewed papers in the areas of small business finance and banking, entrepreneurship in various academic journals, such as International Small Business Journal, Economics and Human Biology, etc. He has also published a book chapter (The Oxford handbook of entrepreneurial finance) by Oxford University Press. During his PhD study at the University of Surrey, he received the honour of Vice Chancellor Research Student Finalist and FBEL Postgraduate Research Student of the Year Award. He has also received the best paper award for ECR in 2016 from Portsmouth Business School.
