University of Portsmouth alumni and current students are invited to attend the Chancellor’s Dinner on Friday 9 February 2018 at the iconic Portsmouth Guildhall. The black tie event will be hosted by new Chancellor Karen Blackett OBE who will be joined by her soon-to-be announced special guest.
A highly successful and respected alumna of the University of Portsmouth, Karen graduated from the University of Portsmouth in 1992 with a degree in Geography. Currently Chairwoman of MediaCom, a testament to her 23 years media experience and CEO of five years, Karen is at the top of her game as a proven business leader in creating vibrant cultures, energising teams and consistently delivering business growth and success. Topping the Power List in 2015, Karen was also appointed as one of four external advisors to help diversify the Civil Service, and as a Department for International Trade Business Ambassador for No. 10.
The evening will begin with a drinks and canapé reception, followed by a two course meal with wine and coffee. Guests can have their photograph taken with friends in the photo booth before making their way to the Grand Main Hall for dinner. After the meal, Karen will host an intimate interview on stage with her guest.
Tickets are priced at £45 to University of Portsmouth alumni and £25 for University of Portsmouth students. This price includes a welcome drink and canapés, photo booth and two course meal with wine and coffee.
Alumni and students are invited to purchase a ticket for one guest who is not an alumnus or student of the University of Portsmouth. Guest tickets are priced at £45 each.
Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
A printed ticket will be sent to guests in January 2018.
Doors will open at 7pm. It is expected that the event will end at approximately 10.30pm with the Guildhall bar remaining open until midnight.
- The dress code for the event is black tie for gentlemen and formal evening wear for ladies.
By train – Portsmouth’s city centre train station Portsmouth & Southsea is a two minute walk from Portsmouth Guildhall.
By coach – National Express coaches to Portsmouth arrive at Cambridge Road which is a five minute walk from Portsmouth Guildhall.
By car – Exit the M27 at Junction 12 and follow signs for M275 into the city.
