University of Portsmouth alumni and current students are invited to attend the Chancellor’s Dinner on Friday 9 February 2018 at the iconic Portsmouth Guildhall. The black tie event promises to be a fascinating evening hosted by new Chancellor Karen Blackett OBE. Karen will be joined by special guests former rowing World Champion and double Olympic Gold Medallist James Cracknell OBE, and four-time Olympian and Vice-President of UK Athletics Donna Fraser.
With the evening themed around fearlessness and resilience, Karen has invited James and Donna to join her on stage to explore their professional and personal experiences as both guests have exceptional stories to tell including the multiple World Championship medals achieved, and a near fatal accident that left James in recovery for six months.
Karen herself is a highly successful and respected alumna of the University of Portsmouth after graduating in 1992 with a degree in Geography. Currently Chairwoman of MediaCom, a testament to her 23 years media experience and CEO of five years, Karen is at the top of her game as a proven business leader in creating vibrant cultures, energising teams and consistently delivering business growth and success. Topping the Power List in 2015, Karen was also appointed as one of four external advisors to help diversify the Civil Service, and as a Department for International Trade Business Ambassador for No. 10.
The evening will begin with a drinks and canapé reception, followed by a two course meal with wine and coffee. Guests can have their photograph taken with friends in the photo booth before making their way to the Grand Main Hall for dinner. After the meal, Karen will host an intimate interview on stage with her guests.
Tickets are priced at £45 to University of Portsmouth alumni and £25 for University of Portsmouth students. This price includes a welcome drink and canapés, photo booth and two course meal with wine and coffee.
Alumni and students are invited to purchase a ticket for one guest who is not an alumnus or student of the University of Portsmouth. Guest tickets are priced at £45 each.
Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
A printed ticket will be sent to guests in January 2018.
Doors will open at 7pm. The event will end at approximately 10.30pm with the Guildhall bar remaining open until midnight. The photo booth will also be available after the event.
- The dress code for the event is black tie for gentlemen and formal evening wear for ladies.
