Workforce training

Continuing Professional Development Courses (CPD)

The University provides workforce training across a number of sectors.  Five faculties ensure that the University has expertise in many areas including business theory, project management, engineering, biological sciences, dental hygiene, Information management, architecture, planning law and stretching to areas as diverse as creative practitioners and cosmology.

Many of these courses can lead to accreditation or form the basis for entry to a University qualification such as a masters degree.

The University also designs and tailors courses to meet organisational needs.  We recently engaged with Hewlett Packard  to provide development courses for staff.

Learning at Work (Partnership Programme)

Learning at Work is a University scheme that allows working people to study for a University qualification, such as a batchelors (undergraduate) or master's (postgraduate) degree without leaving their jobs. It is based on a three-way partnership between an employee, your employer and the University. The programme offers a range of subject-specific award titles, but you can study anything you choose so long as it forms a coherent programme. To find out more visit the Learning at Work website.

Part-time and Flexible Courses

In addition to our Learning at Work programme we also offer a number of professional and flexible course that can either be studied by attending the university part time or studies via distance learning usually online. Doctoral Training

The University of Portsmouth is justifiably proud of its extensive research programme and excellent links to industry and public sector partners.  The University offers a number of routes to complete doctoral training in both a full and part time capacity.  This enables businesses to look to doctoral training as one of a number of options that will enhance the skills of their workforce.

The University of Portsmouth’s Graduate School is the first port of call for information for all postgraduate research students and supervisors. It supports, administers and coordinates training for the MPhil, PhD, and Professional Doctorate programmes.

Masters Programme

The University of Portsmouth offers a rich variety of study opportunities – more than 140 postgraduate programmes are delivered by departments and schools, each with their own unique identity.

Most programmes offer both full and part-time options to provide flexible delivery of programmes in order to meet the demands of busy lifestyles and business.
