Research shows that competent and well-trained staff perform better, work more efficiently and are therefore more likely to achieve organisational goals and increase company profits. The University can design and deliver training courses across a wide range of disciplines and topics from short courses and seminars to degree and masters level courses

Undergraduate Courses - The University of Portsmouth offers more than 300 undergraduate courses in a broad range of subjects. Some of these courses can be studied part-time and are ideal for those wishing to gain additional qualifications within a profession.

Postgraduate Courses - Many postgraduate courses are designed to extend knowledge and broaden the skills relating to subjects at undergraduate or equivalent level. Most of these courses are available on a part-time basis, with many validated by relevant professional bodies.

Foundation Degrees - Designed to equip students with academic knowledge and skills needed by employers, part-time foundation degrees involve work-based learning and work experience. In partnership with employers, we can advise on the credit worth of in-company training and provide staff development support for company mentors.

Continual Professional Development - The University can tailor material to meet the specific in-house needs of individual customers who wish to develop professional skills, beneficial to both the individual and organisation. Our courses reflect changes in professions and are developed with employers to ensure effectiveness within the changing business world.

Partnership Programme - This flexible career development programme offers courses that involve learning in the workplace supported by university study. An individual study programme is designed for each student. It includes a work-based project of value and relevance to the student's company.

On-Line Learning - The University can offer a number of courses for those who want the convenience of studying online in their own time and in their own way. These courses are structured so that all learning materials and contact with tutors and fellow students is online.

Customised Courses - If we are unable to meet your staff development needs through one of our regular types of course, the University can draw upon material from first degrees and postgraduate courses to construct customised training to match specific requirements.
