PIPEline: Turn a business idea into a business

Did you know that entrepreneurship and self employment is classed as a graduate job. According to the annual Destination of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) study, increasing numbers of graduates are freelance or self-employed six months after leaving university, a category that includes entrepreneurs. If this is something you are considering and you’re graduating this year (2013) PIPEline could help you.
PIPEline
PIPEline is a free programme designed to help graduates develop the professional skills and knowledge needed in starting up their own; business, social enterprise, Community Interest Company or charity or becoming self employed, sole trader, consultant or freelancer.
The Benefits

- Pitch to providers of incubation, start-up finance and business mentoring
There are three stages to the PIPEline programme these are:
Stage 1: Look at your own skills and creativity.
Stage 2: You are given the opportunity to gain guidance and advice from experts to help move your ideas forward and all participants will be teamed up with a mentor to help them develop their idea throughout the programme.
Stage 3: Put what you have learnt into practice and pitch your ideas to representatives from local business support networks with the aim of gaining access to start-up finance, incubation and mentoring.
The programme is free, it is open to individuals who have graduated from the University of Portsmouth, including this year’s 2013 graduates. PIPEline is structured around two intensive weekends the programme culminated in a final one day pitching event.
