I have worked with the African Union Commission in the areas of policy development, planning, management and liquidation of peace support operations in Central African Republic, Mali, and Somalia as well as in the Lake Chad Basin countries through the establishment of the Multinational Joint Taskforce against Boko Haram. Prior to working for the African Union Commission, I worked with some think-tanks notably: Institute for Security Studies, Stockholm International Peace Research Institute and the Institute for Peace and Security, in various research capacities. I have a PhD in Politics and International Studies from the University of Leeds (awarded in 2010), and a Masters of Art in Conflict Resolution from the University of Bradford, United Kingdom.
My research interests include regional dimensions of peace support operations in Africa, partnership between the African Union and the United Nations in the area of peace and security, preventing violent extremism and more recently, understanding the relationship between hard and soft power in addressing regional security challenges in Africa.
