Assessing the Shifting Character of Contemporary Intervention in West Africa

(Through The West Africa Peace And Security Network - WAPSN)

Western interventions in West Africa have been commonplace for centuries. However, West/Central African states are themselves increasingly also intervening in the region as part of internal/external multi-national coalitions. Despite the significance of this issue, these heterogeneous coalitions, their drivers, the distribution of benefits and the impact on conflicts/development have received relatively little scholarship. This project leverages the highly-successful WAPSN (westafricasecuritynetwork.org) to tackle this lacuna.
