Accounting and finance are vital functions in any economy. This course is aimed at international and EU students who already have a Diploma in accounting or who are qualified to enter the programme at second or final-year level.

If you’re looking to take the next step towards a professional qualification in order to become an accountant, or wish to forge a career within the financial services sector, then this is the course for you.

We also maintain close links with the key professional accounting bodies to maximise your employability, including the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). What’s more, this course will exempt you from some of the professional examinations required by the major accounting bodies (e.g. ACCA, CIMA).

Teaching and Assessment

We go to great lengths to ensure you will have an excellent learning experience with a high level of support. Teaching is usually undertaken in lectures supported by smaller group seminars, workshops, tutorials and practical sessions. Extensive use is also made of information technology and other teaching innovations.

In addition, if English is not your first language, there are free courses available to help familiarise you with the use of English for academic purposes.

Bloomberg Suite

You can use this essential business research tool and gain real-life financial experience. Created by the Mayor of New York, Mike Bloomberg, the system is used by over a quarter of million finance professionals globally. You too can virtually access the same data, analytics and software used by city traders via one of our Bloomberg terminals.

International Office

We are a very cosmopolitan community with more than 4,000 international and EU students from over 100 different countries. The role of the International Office is to provide you with extensive support to make your time here as stress-free and enjoyable as possible, enabling you to focus on your studies.

Computing

We have invested heavily in open access computer suites across campus. Great working spaces with high-spec PCs (multimedia and CAD), Macs and printing facilities. There is also more specialised software and equipment available such as large format printing, audio-visual equipment and language laboratories. Should you need any assistance, there are specialist technicians on hand to support you in using the facilities.

University Library

Modern, comfortable and a great learning environment, our library offers a wealth of information including 400,000 books, DVDs, maps and thousands of online ejournals and newspapers. Many electronic resources are available anywhere, 24/7 and our friendly staff are always on hand to help.

The strong reputation of accounting in the UK has always made it an attractive place to study this subject. The current trend towards internationalisation of accounting and auditing standards can only enhance the employability of UK-trained accounting and finance graduates throughout the world.

On completing the course, our graduates often choose to join an accounting firm or larger company to complete their accounting training, while others use their expertise within financial services or branch out into more general management roles.
