Course Overview

Why take this course?

Our Global MBA programme commences every September and January for individuals with professional work experience who wish to develop their strategic understanding of business and management topics in an international context.

This course can be studied full-time or part-time and prepares graduates to take on a wide range of senior roles in organisations in various sectors, significantly accelerating their career and management progression.

It also provides graduates with the knowledge and skills to start their own business.

  • Study in 4-day blocks with periods of reflection and consolidation in between
  • Learn from enthusiastic lecturers and guest speakers from all over the world who are experts in their field and have recent corporate and academic research experience
  • Tap into our Library’s electronic resources, which you can access from anywhere with an internet connection.

What opportunities might it lead to?

The MBA programme is a transformational journey. Some MBA graduates accelerate their careers by progressing to more senior levels of leadership. Others use the MBA to prepare for their next career change, such as exploring the potential of entrepreneurship to set up their own business.

When you graduate, you will have an internationally recognised qualification that will equip you for employment in a wide range of business settings, both in the UK and overseas. You will have a thorough grounding in strategic business and management topics enabling you to undertake roles in private or public sector organisations or to start your own business.

Structure & Teaching

The course consists of eight taught modules and one project module. Taught modules are delivered in four-day blocks followed by supervised consolidation sessions that will prepare you for assessment.

The project module will be delivered using a combination of taught and online supervision with every student having an individual project supervisor.

The modules are:

  • Financial and Accounting Management
  • Strategic International HRM
  • Managing Operations and the Supply Chain

Facilities & Features

Flexible Learning

You will benefit from web, email or phone access to many of our facilities and services. Our student website will be your one-stop shop for all news, information and links to other services, and 24/7 online access to the University Library’s vast electronic book, journal and database collections will help you find the right resources for your research.

Support

We aim to provide you with as much support as possible. You will also be assigned a personal tutor who will offer support and guidance throughout your studies.

Computing

We have invested heavily in open access computer suites across campus. Great working spaces with high-spec PCs (multimedia and CAD), Macs and printing facilities. There is also more specialised software and equipment available such as large format printing, audio-visual equipment and language laboratories (satellite image and geophysical processing). Should you need any assistance, there are specialist technicians on hand to support you in using the facilities.

University Library

Modern, comfortable and a great learning environment, our library offers a wealth of information including 400,000 books, DVDs, maps and thousands of online ejournals and newspapers. Many electronic resources are available anywhere, 24/7 and our friendly staff are always on hand to help.

Budgeting for your studies

There may be extra costs arising from your studies which you will need to consider when planning your expenditure.

Some are common costs to all courses of study. These may include the cost of study texts, reference books, photocopying and computer supplies. Others relate to specific courses and may include field trips, materials and specialist equipment.
