The overall aim of the programme is to provide education to first degree level for students who wish to expand their knowledge of animal management systems and who are interested in developing research techniques in aspects of animal welfare and behaviour, animal collections management and animal wildlife management.

The course is based on a firm science foundation including biological science, biochemistry, and vertebrate anatomy & physiology. Business studies and communication skills are also included to prepare students for managerial positions in research, industry or academia.

Practical animal handling skills and husbandry techniques are interwoven through the whole three years of the course. Students are encouraged to broaden their expertise by seeking work placements in specialist areas.
