The Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Garden Design is intended to provide students with the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to pursue a career in the design of private, domestic gardens either with a garden design company or as a self-employed, freelance garden designer.
The two-year, full-time programme, or three-year, part-time programme will provide students with an understanding of the principles and practices which underpin effective garden design. The programme is an introduction in the first semester to the area of garden design followed by in-depth units preparing the learners for work in the industry or continuation onto the BSc programme.
This course has evolved over a number of years with the input of practicing garden designers and academic staff. There is a high level of industry contact, employer liaison and contact with professional bodies.
