MA European Studies

Student profile

Anthony Cleland Welch – MA European Studies

What made you decide to come to University of Portsmouth to study?

"Having a keen interest and background in European politics and development, I chose to study European Studies in order to broaden this."

How have you found your course?

"I received excellent support from faculty staff, both academic and administrative. Lecturers were always available to help and guide me - it made my learning experience much more enjoyable.

"There is no doubt that the wider view I gained on the course assisted me at the interview stage of gaining my current position as National Security Coordinator for Kosovo. It has been a very memorable time. So much so that I'm going on to study for a PhD on my return."

How have you found life at the University?

"As an older student, I was worried about fitting in, but my fears were unfounded and course members, all many years younger than myself, accepted me completely. As a result, we had some extremely good times, both socially and whilst working."
