Dr Julie Cherryman (Principal Lecturer: Course Leader/Course Tutor/Unit Coordinator)
Dr Julie Cherryman has worked on this course since 1995, before the first intake of students! She was delighted to take on the role of Course Leader in 2006 and enjoys being personal and academic tutor to students on this course. Julie is Unit Coordinator of four units on this programme of study. She has conducted research into interview techniques for vulnerable witnesses, especially children and adults with intellectual disabilities, and trains police officers and social workers on the interviewing of vulnerable witnesses. Dr Lucy Akehurst (Senior Lecturer: Course Tutor/Unit Coordinator)
Dr Lucy Akehurst was Course Leader of this programme from 2003 to 2006 and is personal and academic tutor to students on this course. Lucy is Unit Coordinator of one unit - Detecting Deception and Child Perpetrators.
Lucy's research expertise lies in the detection of deception and she trains police officers and social workers in the use of Statement Validity Assessment. Her other research interests include interviewing children and the effect of socially encountered misinformation on children’s and adults’ eyewitness testimony. View profile
Dr Axelle Philippon (Associate Lecturer)
Dr Axelle Philippon has worked periodically on this course for over five years. She provides feedback and support for students and engages in students’ discussions in the elearning environment. Axelle’s research interests lie in the area of earwitness identification, which was the topic of her PhD.
