Sarah Irwin - BA (Hons) European Studies

Sarah is in her final year of her European Studies course and is studying French and Italian as her chosen languages. She came to Portsmouth as this course offered a very broad range of subjects. 'The University has a good reputation for languages and the city is very multinational with lots of foreign students. And it is known as a 'gateway to Europe' so it seemed an ideal location. The lecturers are very knowledgeable and individual. I like the emphasis that is placed on continual assessment throughout the course, rather than the total pressure on final exams.' Sarah spent her year placement at the Institut d'Etudes Politiqués in Strasbourg, France. This experience, coupled with the law module that she has recently covered, has prompted an interest in European law and Sarah is considering a law conversion course to become a solicitor. She would love to return to work in France in the future.
