HND Business

Ella Morris Ella Morris – HND Business (Isle of Wight College)

Ella Morris has recently completed the Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business through the Isle of Wight College.

‘I chose this course because I wanted to go to University but stay at home. When I found out about the HND, which is managed by the University of Portsmouth Business School and delivered at the Isle of Wight College, I realised it would be the perfect way to do this. I could study locally and keep my job in a local gift shop, which I really enjoy.

The course has helped me understand the workings of a business and the key factors that go towards creating a successful one, which will certainly help me to achieve my aspiration of eventually setting up my own retail shop.

I have particularly loved learning about advertising and buyer behaviour and have enjoyed the independence the course allows – the free time is ideal for catching up on study. The tutors are also really helpful and experts in their subject.’

Jessica Harris Jessica Harris – HND Business (South Downs College)

Jessica is currently studying for a BA (Hons) Business Administration at the University, which she was accepted onto after completing the HND Business course at South Downs College.

‘Studying for the HND Business course has enabled me to take a big step towards getting a degree. I’d already completed a BTEC in Business Studies before enrolling and now I have the opportunity to top the HND course up to degree level in my third year.

One of the highlights for me has been hearing numerous guest speakers tell tales of real business, bringing the course to life. I’ve also enjoyed listening to lecturers who have their own stories from first-hand experience within industry, which are very inspirational. The course has helped me consider which areas of business I enjoy the most and would like to pursue a career in.

It has also been useful to have access to facilities at both South Downs College and the University of Portsmouth, as there is a very good selection of literature available to aid coursework.’
