Learning at Work Masters Programme

This is a work-based learning programme for professionals. It offers career development courses that involve learning in the workplace supported by University study and is for all grades of employee from the supervisory or technician levels up to the Managing Director. This programme is not available to international students.

The Learning at Work Masters Programme is also suitable for those who are not in paid employment, but who have opportunities to undertake real workplace projects. The programme provides a new way to gain University qualifications to the benefit of employers and employees alike and delivers the professional skills and latest technical advances required in today’s competitive markets.

Over the last ten years, employees from more than 100 companies have benefited from the Learning at Work Programme. Many students had been away from education for many years or had never attended a university before. Study involves real work projects and university courses chosen by the student.

Integrated Flexible Masters Programme

The Portsmouth Business School designs and delivers training courses across a wide range of business and management topics. It frequently works in partnership with other organisations to accredit professional and management programmes.

Through the Integrated Flexible Masters Programme (IFM), we offer a continuous professional development programme which leads to a postgraduate qualification, that combines the best of business acumen and academic underpinning with real work-based learning assignments.

This programme is aimed at employers who wish to upgrade the skills of their staff and retain full involvement in the process. The framework is flexible and promotes the University and client partnership, with both working together to design a Masters course to suit the employee's requirements. Each course includes:

  • Individual work-based learning
  • Units of study offered by the University of Portsmouth or other approved suppliers
  • Other training/professional development offered by the company in-house

The award can be an MBA or a tailored MA or MSc as well as a Diploma or Certificate.
