What made you decide to come to the University of Portsmouth to study the Professional Doctorate?

I had undertaken several degree programmes with the University, the Professional Doctorate programme met the objective of combining research and development whilst maintaining my professional practice. The professional doctorate supports practice based research that allowed me to maintain a clinical focus.

How did you find the course?

The taught part of the doctorate assisted in providing the knowledge and supporting my professional development to enable me to move on to the research based element. The support networks developed with fellow students was an added bonus and one that will continue past completion of this course.

What was your project title?

A study of self-reported surgical site infection following total hip or total knee replacement 

How do you think this course has helped you to develop your career in your profession?

I now have the knowledge and skills to take this and other research further within my clinical practice. I also have developed confidence with my peers and enhanced my credibility with other healthcare professionals.
