How to apply

When you apply to the University of Portsmouth, the University's Admissions teams will carefully consider your application.  Each application is assessed individually and in accordance with our Admissions Code of Practice.  The University is committed to treating all candidates fairly, recognising cultural and social diversity and the importance of academic and other achievement in preparing students to undertake undergraduate study.

Full-time courses

Applications to full-time degree programmes at Portsmouth, like all universities in the UK, are made through UCAS (the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service).  Detailed information on how to use UCAS is available at www.ucas.com

Part-time or Distance learning courses

Applications for part-time and distance learning courses are made directly to the University at www.port.ac.uk/onlineapplication. Alternatively, please download our application form below and return it to the University of Portsmouth by post:

International students

International students can apply through UCAS, University agents or directly.  Please see the relevant pages on the International Office for further information.

Please note: We cannot accept direct applications from applicants in Nigeria due to the high rate of visa refusals and documentation issues. Applicants in Nigeria should apply through UCAS or through our local representative, Glory Educational Services. This includes applications for Distance Learning courses. A small charge will be made by Glory for administration and visa counselling.

Students from the Channel Islands and Isle of Man

Students applying from the Channel Islands and Isle of Man can take advantage of our 'Islands Progression Agreement.' The agreement includes additional support during the application process and during the student's first year at Portsmouth. To find out more visit www.port.ac.uk/islandstudents

Applicants under the age of 18

The University considers applicants on the basis of academic attainment and potential to benefit from the course they apply for, irrespective of their age on entry. The University may, however, regard some courses inappropriate for certain ages where there may be particular risks for younger applicants. Notwithstanding this, the University expects all applicants under the age of 18 to understand that they will be studying in an adult environment. Please download the Policy for the admission and support of students entering the University under the age of 18.
