The advent of new materials and manufacturing techniques, along with new techniques of recording tooth preparations, has allowed a more minimal invasive approach to preparing teeth for indirect restorations to be incorporated into clinical practice. By conserving more tooth structure, the risks of pulpal damage and future tooth fracture are reduced. Standardised tooth preparations are no longer appropriate as the preparation should be customised for the requirement of the individual tooth and associated clinical condition.
By attending this course the candidates will:
- Learn about the new materials available for indirect restorations.
- Learn how the properties of these materials and the manufacturing techniques for restorations influence tooth preparation design.
- Have hands-on experience in practicing tooth preparations.
