I graduated from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS, University of London) in 2010 with a BA in Arabic. After graduating, I obtained a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) and taught in various higher educational institutions around the world. In 2013, I completed my MA in Education (Psychology) at UCL (Institute of Education, University of London). I'm currently undertaking my PhD at Middlesex University, with my thesis focusing on role of emotional intelligence in the development of adolescents’ social and emotional abilities and academic performance.

In addition to continuing research on emotional intelligence and academic achievement of adolescents, I have been working at the University of Portsmouth since 2017 as a Senior Research Associate on the “Changing Mindsets” project, funded by HEFCE. The project is a student and staff workshop-based intervention to reduce stereotype threat and implicit bias as barriers to student success.

My research interests lie in educational psychology, in particular, enhancing emotional awareness, emotional regulation, resilience, and a growth mindset.
