I spent nearly 8 years at the University of Portsmouth as a student at first and later as an Associate Lecturer in Psychology. In this role I was involved across a wide range of year 1 and year 2 units on the BSc Psychology and BSc Forensic Psychology undergraduate courses. In 2011, I completed my PhD, on the topic of cognitive load and deception in investigative interviews, under the supervision of Professors Aldert Vrij, Lorraine Hope and Dr. Bridgette Waller.
For the last four years I have been working as an Applied Cognitive Psychologist within a UK defence and security setting. I tend to visit the psychology department around 4-5 times a year but I remain involved in ongoing research on deception in the department when time allows.

My main research interest is in detecting deception, particularly in investigative interviewing situations. However, I am also interested in the emerging field of Cyberpsychology which seeks to investigate and understand how humans behave in cyberspace.
