I graduated in 2016 from Bangor University with a BSc (Hons) Zoology with Conservation. Between September 2016 and December 2016 I shall be undertaking a Field Study at Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre (Borneo). During my time there I shall not only be collecting my own data but will also be a research assistant for Florence Rocque who is a current PhD student in Comparative Psychology. Flo’s study is focusing on combining personality research in non-human primates with practical conservation.
In September 2016 I began my full-time MRes Science (Psychology) under the supervision of Dr Marina Davila-Ross and Dr Erik Gustafsson, focusing on Orangutan Communication. I am currently investigating what facial expressions and vocalisations are produced by Orangutans in specific contexts. This is an important study due to Orangutan communication being the least studied out of all the great apes, with recent research indicating that facial expressions in Orangutans are just as important as that of their vocalisations.
