I graduated from Bangor University with a BSc in Sport Science, and subsequently completed an MRes in Sport and Exercise Psychology under the supervision of Dr James Hardy. Following this, I moved to America where I worked as an academy football coach and gained qualifications and experience as a performance analyst. I later returned to the UK in 2014 to begin a PhD at the University of Portsmouth alongside working as a business development manager in the sport coaching sector. I then undertook a teaching position at the University of Winchester, where I was the Programme Leader of the BA Sport Business and Marketing degree. I finally returned to the University of Portsmouth in August 2016 as a Lecturer of Sport Development and Coaching.

Teaching Responsibilities

I contribute to teaching in the area of Sport Management across the undergraduate courses, including Professional Practice in Sport Marketing, Sport and Business Management, and Coaching Principles. I also contribute in a supervisory capacity to undergraduate and postgraduate projects within the disciplines of Sport Development and Sport Psychology.

My research interests lie in the psychology and business of sport, reflecting the dual nature of my academic and applied background. I am currently working towards a PhD which investigates when, how, and why emotions are ‘caught’ between individuals within high performance teams (eg, sport, business, military, education). I am also interested in the economic impact of sport (eg, broadcasting rights in football), in addition to working with national governing bodies on projects related to sport sponsorship.
