I joined the department as a PhD student in February 2014. I am also currently employed as a P.E. Specialist teacher in a cluster of schools in Hampshire where I am responsible for mentoring primary school teachers in their delivery of P.E. lessons and for organising competitive sports events between the schools. Prior to that, I worked as a primary school teacher and PE manager at Solent Junior School and HeadStart International School in Thailand. I have also been a primary school teacher in a range of primary schools within Winchester, Wickham and in Ghana, West Africa. Whilst teaching, I completed a M(ed) in Primary Education at University of Winchester. In 2004 I graduated with a first class honours degree in Exercise and Sports Science from University of Exeter.
My research interests are related to primary P.E, particularly the development of fundamental movement skills and fundamental sports skills. I am also interested in the use of technology in P.E. lessons, the effectiveness of video demonstrations and the use of IPADS as a self-evaluative tool for children to assess their learning.
