About us

Our mission is to provide an educational ethos which emphasises a distinctive relationship between practice and research in a cultural context.

The courses from pre-degree to postgraduate fully exploit the links with other disciplines within the University. The School is particularly proud of its international links and many of the courses offer opportunities for industrial placement and academic exchange.

The integrated provision of Further and Higher Education within the School offers opportunities for successful Further Education students to progress to the BA Honours Degree Programme. Unlike many other industry sectors Art, Design and Media continues to benefit from high growth rates and expanding global markets.

Creativity, adaptability and communication are the skills which bring creative practitioners success. They are recognised by employers and government as essential to the country's economic success, and as such are in great demand.

The highly successful all-through programme with its emphasis on Research into Practice is recognised nationally and by our European partners for its excellence. It offers a valuable learning environment in which students can progress to join the Postgraduate and Higher Research Degrees programmes.
