Profile
BA (hons) Loughborough MS College of New Rochelle
I am an illustrator, animator and designer with over 10 years of experience teaching in higher education. As an illustration lecturer, I bring my extensive professional practice in the field of illustration and my passion for nurturing and inspiring young creatives.
Prior to starting at Portsmouth, I taught in the U.S.A at Parsons New School of Design, The College of New Rochelle, and Westchester Community College among others. I have an extensive record of exhibitions both group and solo and continue my practice as a satirical illustrator, animator and printmaker. In 2008 a book of drawings and etchings was published called Life’s Too Short For Nuance.
Current Research
I am engaged in several projects at the moment including but not limited to book cover illustration and design, a fully illustrated satirical book with an American author, and an animation covering the events in a small French town in the 1950’s. My work is rooted in both the practice of drawing and the study of drawing as a significant part of visual culture. My future research will be concerned with drawing and language and how cultures have seen drawing as a core part of social commentary and political expression.
