Site Readings at Mottisfont Abbey

The exhibition will bring together a body of work from students studying on a range of courses at Portsmouth University: Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, Sustainable Architecture, Urban Design and Historic Building Conservation, at both postgraduate and undergraduate level.

Mottisfont Abbey has been used as a site for investigation of inter-disciplinary language and attitudes towards ‘reading’ a site or building have been explored. This research has resulted in a series of proposals for creative design interventions in response to the unique nature, history and possible futures of Mottisfont.

The work will explore a range of disciplinary approaches and skills to raise questions and stimulate debate on how we think about preservation, conservation and cultural production.

Students and staff will be at Mottisfont on 2^nd, 7^th and 14^th July, 2-4 to talk about the work and answer questions from Mottisfont staff, volunteers and visitors.
