VPOD produce innovative video conferencing and teleconferencing products for businesses to enable global communication. The VPOD range enables the user to become part of a discussion, by sitting around a virtual table with colleagues from around the globe, also using VPOD. VPOD’s focus is on the environment in which the technology functions. These environments need to be appropriate for human comfort through choice of materials, anthropometrics, temperature control, have adequate lighting, and be acoustically sound to stop noise getting in and private conversations getting out.
The VPOD has generated much interest in the business community for its accessibility, ease of use and reduction on time and costs travelling to and from meetings. This competition looked at how the VPOD environment could be redesigned for use in a University environment. Students were asked to design a POD for communication, to become part of the VPOD range. The pod needed to include all of the environmental factors already described as well as taking on the brand of the University of Portsmouth.
