Portsmouth School of Architecture (ARCH)

Research

In the School of Architecture, we  have a strong culture of teaching and learning and are working to develop themes in research groups and clusters that connect to our postgraduate courses in particular . We are interested in developing partnerships engaged in research in the areas of Architecture, Interior Design and Urban Design , sustainable design , historic building conservation and teaching pedagogy. These collaborations will be within the School, the faculty and University, but importantly we wish to work with groups whether academic or commercial, outside the University to investigate possibilities for innovative research and development connected to architecture and the built environment.

We also have a Project Office in the department which is a chartered architects practice delivering real projects and connecting our students curriculum experience to live projects regionally. In addition this is a research environment to facilitate opportunities for staff and students to engage in real and applied  research.

We have a range of research groups, listed below:

  Urban Landscape and Design

The School of Architecture works with the School of Art Design and Media in the University Research Centre for Art, Architecture and Design (CAAD) which supports and advances research across the range of art, design, architectural and media practices.

If you have any projects that you wish to discuss please contact the School. We are interested to discuss opportunities for research that connect to issues that associate themselves with the development and exploration of excellence in the area of architecture, interior design and the built environment.
