Profile

Dan has taught at the Portsmouth School of Architecture since 1995, and is the Course Leader of the BA (Hons) in Architecture in which he coordinates the second year and runs one of the design studios in that year. He also jointly runs a design studio in the Diploma in Architecture and delivers the Architecture & Cities BA2 Elective.

Dan studied architecture at South Bank Polytechnic in London and worked in practice in London between 1982 and 1992, before going on to teach at the South Bank University School of Architecture until 1997, where he ran the Dip Arch Urban Design Studio.In 1991 he formed the Bureau for Architecture & Urban Design and took part in and won awards for several international urban design competitions in Dublin, Yokohama, London, Karlsruhe, Berlin and Copenhagen.

Dan’s interest and experience in urban design and housing has led to several publications and conference presentations and his work with students in the Dip Arch Urbanism studio is the subject of ongoing research.
