Profile

BA (Hons) (Portsmouth) Dip. Arch. (Portsmouth) MA PP (Portsmouth) PGCTLHE (Portsmouth)

I joined the school in 2007 as an architect coming from private practice, specialising in educational buildings in the UK and Channel Islands. Through my experience in practice I have been fortunate to work on a number of well known listed and historic buildings in cities such as Salisbury and Winchester. I have a longstanding relationship with the school, having taught both in studio and with the representation team since 1996.

I am interested in the tectonic qualities of architecture and how we can represent a sublime architecture. Roger Tyrrell and I run a diploma 2 studio, which focuses upon the phenomena of architecture and the tectonic manifesto of architectural ideas. In the past two years we have explored this agenda by transgressing boundaries; territories in the literal sense, but also cultures, climates and most fundamentally the boundaries of ideas.

I currently teach on both undergraduate and postgraduate Architecture and Interior Design courses with my lecture contribution forming part of both the Technology and Communication teaching teams. With Martin Pearce I co-ordinate BA1, and am Diploma 2 Coordinator. With Lorraine Farrelly I also coordinate ERASMUS exchanges for the School.
