Portsmouth School of Architecture (ARCH)

Fabiano joined Portsmouth in October 2008. He holds a PhD in History and Theory of Urbanism awarded by the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC), in Barcelona; a Mphil and a Degree in Architecture and Urbanism, both awarded by the University of São Paulo. Fabiano has a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, awarded by the University of Portsmouth, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He is the coordinator of the MA in Urban Design, teaches design studio and history and theory of architecture and urban design to both undergraduates and postgraduates. He is also engaged in PhD supervision.

Fabiano has participated in several congresses, conferences and seminars with publications on urban history, urban planning, landscape architecture and modern architecture. Previously, Fabiano has also worked in practice, in research groups and lectured in Brazil and Spain.

His current research looks into the significance of the First Town Planning Conference RIBA (1910) to the development of urban planning as a discipline in the 20th century and how those debates are still relevant to understand our practice today.
