Biological Sciences

Qualification: BSc (Hons) Genome Science
Current position: Research student, King's College London
After successfully completing my degree in Genome Science at the University of Portsmouth, I decided to progress to further studies in a similar research field. I applied for several PhD positions, and decided on pursuing a PhD project in developmental biology at King’s College London. I am now part of the muscle development research group within the Cell & Developmental Biology section at Guy’s Hospital's Dental Institute. At present, I am researching novel molecules involved in morphogenetic movements from muscle precursors via certain signalling pathways involved in developmental processes. I hope to describe and characterise these molecules by performing descriptive and functional experiments, in order to find out when and where, they are expressed, and also how they work.
In the future, I plan to carry on with my research, and gain a position as a post-doc, staying within the fields of developmental and molecular biology.
