Whilst choosing which university to go to, I was torn between studying Biochemistry and Forensic Science. So when I found out that Portsmouth ran a joint degree in both, my mind was made up. I felt that doing a joint degree would give my more options for a career in the future than just a single pathway.
I had also been down a few times to visit a friend of mine that was studying here before me, and I was impressed with the Students Union and the other social aspects of student life at Portsmouth.
I really enjoyed the practical aspects of the course, in particular the final year project, which I undertook in the Chromatin lab with Dr Fiona Myers. It was during my project work that I decided I would very much like a career in research. I am still currently looking for a PhD position related to my undergraduate project work, and would like to continue to put the skills I learnt during my time at Portsmouth to good use.
