Pauline Rowson Undercurrent PRThe University of Portsmouth’s Institute of Marine Sciences (IMS) has been credited by internationally-published author Pauline Rowson in her forthcoming novel Undercurrent.

Dr Gordon Watson, a lecturer in Marine Biology, assisted Pauline Rowson during the writing process by explaining what the Institute of Marine Sciences did and how it undertakes research in the Solent area. He said “It was a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the literary instalment that is the DI Horton range. Being able to talk about the role of IMS and what we do was a real compliment, adding authenticity and expertise of the University to such a popular series.  I hope that our contribution adds to the reader’s overall experience.”

Pauline Rowson attended the IMS on Tuesday 19th February and presented Dr Watson with a signed copy of her latest novel. As well as this, Pauline Rowson also thanked Dr Watson personally in her acknowledgments for his ‘invaluable help’.

The latest novel in the Detective Inspector Andy Horton range follows the investigator as he attempts to solve the murder of a naval historian, whose body is found floating in Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard. When a second body is found floating in the same area under similar circumstances, DI Horton suspects foul play may be involved and sets out to uncover the truth behind the tragedy.

Undercurrent is the ninth title in the DI Andy Horton range and was released in the UK in January 2013, with a US release date set for May 2013. The latest novel continues the tradition of being set on the South Coast of England.
