Research Funding

  • £500 from the ELESIG (Evaluation of Learners' Experiences of e-learning Special Interest Group) for the period December 2010 to June 2011 in conjunction with Emma Duke-Williams, Jonathan Crellin & Timothy Collinson. This project is to produce an annotated bibliography of learning experiences in virtual worlds
  • £2400 from the HE Academy-ICS Development Fund for the period December 2007 - August 2008 for "Second Life Toolkits" in conjunction with Emma Duke-Williams, Jonathan Crellin & Timothy Collinson.  This project investigates teaching tools for use in the Second Life virtual world.
  • £5820 from UoP ExPERT Centre for the period January 2007- December 2008 for “Virtual Worlds for Student Learning” together with Emma Duke-Williams, Terry King & Jonathan Crellin
  • £2325 from the HE Academy-ICS Development Fund for the period December 2005 - August 2006 for "E-Learning: The Students' Choice?" in conjunction with Ian Benest (University of York) and Janet Carter (University  of Kent).  This project looks at what students expect from e-learning.
  • £2670 LTSN-ICS Development Fund in 2002 to investigate “Establishing The Personality Mix in Information and Computer Science Students” in conjunction with Ian Benest (University of York) and Janet Carter (University of Kent)
  • As a member of the ADU project 'Curriculum Assessment and EHE' obtained funding from 1992-1995 from Enterprise in Higher Education.
  • £2240 (with Roger Beresford and Tony Kalus) in the 1992/3 Business School Research Funding round for 'Pen-Based Interface Devices for Clinical Data Capture'.  The final report for this project was accepted by the Faculty Research Committee with the commendation of "excellent outcome".
  • £2000 (with Steve Hand) UPEL Seedcorn funding to investigate the potential of a Smalltalk Open Learning Package.
