Profile

I am an editor, filmmaker, digital and installation artist with a background in the broadcast and the independent sector; working both collaboratively and independently on screen based, site specific and performance based film and video. This is complemented by consultancy work with Arts Council England and project management / mentoring roles in Educational and arts initiatives, fostering interdisciplinary practice and encouraging creative partnerships, to research and engage with questions of the built environment, dis/ability, access, and creative architectural practice.
My work has been exhibited and screened both nationally and internationally, and I have undertaken several artists’ residences both here and abroad.
Research themes include the relationship between public and private space, hidden histories and psychogeography. These encompass questions of Identity, Interactivity, multiple narratives and their relationship to systems of storytelling.
I have co-written the textbook, Introduction to Documentary Production (2002) and contributed to Introduction to Film Studies (2012).
Current Research [Back to top]
Following a recent artists residency and series of workshops in Tuzla Bosnia Hertzagovia (Salt of the Earth “Mind Maps” 2012), I am developing a series of short films and web-site / psychogeographic maps to further develop, record and explore aspects of bestowed and chosen identity, and the role of oral and textual histories in shaping this process. I am also on a steering committee for “Short Circuit”, an Arts council funded action research project bringing artists with disabilities together with, coders, creative and app designers to discuss and develop cross practice art projects over the coming year. Having recently worked as Executive Producer on a pilot for a magazine format TV series on sustainable living entitled “Lily’s Eco- diaries”; I will be trying to secure further funding and distribution opportunities for developing the series and providing opportunities for University of Portsmouth TVFP BA students in production and post- production roles.
