The objective of this talk is to present research that is conducted in industry. The talk is particularly suited to students considering a career in research. The talk first gives a short introduction to the company Orange and its research department Orange Labs. It then looks into the different steps of the research cycle, from the development of new concepts to their exploitation within the industry. The different steps are illustrated with the example of the development of Power Line Communication systems for home networking.
