Profile

Dr Ivan Popov is a principal lecturer in the School of Engineering at University of Portsmouth. He holds his MEng degrees in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from Technical University of Rousse, Bulgaria and PhD degree in Engineering Metrology from Rousse University, Bulgaria. In 2005 he completed a PGC and currently is doing the next level, MA in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education at University of Portsmouth.

His research interests are in the field of: Reverse Engineering (CAD), Rapid Prototyping, CADCAM, Dimensional Metrology, Engineering Design, Manufacturing Engineering, etc.

In his teaching duties he covers the following units:

  • Materials and Manufacture 2 (MB2.2 and M.IMM2);
  • Product modelling for Manufacture 1 and 2 (CA2.02 and CA3.01);
  • Computer Aided Engineering (M.CAE and MB2.5);
  • Computer Aided Engineering – Product Realisation ( M.CAE(PR) and MB3.7);
  • CADCAM Systems (M.CADCAM);
  • Operations & Quality Management (M.OQM);
  • Manufacturing Processes & Materials (M.MPM)
