Research Activities
We undertake research and knowledge transfer on characterisation, formulation, manufacturing, design, modelling, rapid prototyping, testing, repair and structural integrity evaluation of polymers and composites, including thermoplastics, thermosets, coatings, elastomers, adhesives, polymer matrix composites, eco-composites and nanocomposites.
We have a track record of attracting funding from the European Union, TSB, industries and regional government. We have also successfully provided services and consultancies to many SME, and collaborated with academia, governmental organisations and industrial partners in the area of polymer and composite materials.
We have a well-equipped laboratory with facilities include:
- Nano-testing (indentation, scratching and impact);
- Thermal characterisation;
- Mechanical testing;
- Durability testing;
- Surface properties testing;
- Non-destructive evaluation;
- Manufacturing facilities
