Up Racing: the University of Portsmouth Formula Student Team

Formula Student is an Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) initiative designed to challenge university students to conceive, design, build, cost and compete as a team with a small, single-seat racing car in a series of static and dynamic competitions.

The scheme provides opportunities for students to demonstrate and improve their capabilities to deliver successful product in the demanding environment of a motorsport competition.‌

The student-led team at the University of Portsmouth has recently recruited a number of new members from courses as diverse as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Maths, Graphic Design, Web Technologies and even Video Games Enterprise.

They're busy developing their mk5 car for competition in the 2013-14 season and have recently attracted two new sponsors, BOSCH Engineering GmbH and Technix Rubber & Plastics Ltd.
