Geographer wins prestigious grant

Professor Richard Healey from the Department of Geography has won a major grant for his historical GIS work. The project 'Railroads and the Making of Modern America--Tools for Spatio-temporal Correlation, Analysis, and Visualization' is for around £100,000 and is funded by JISC. This project is part of the international 'Digging Into Data' Challenge funded by JISC, NSF, NEH and the Canadian Social Science Research Council. The project is in collaboration with the University of Nebraska, Lincoln who are funded by NEH; there is additional input from McGill University and the University of Victoria. (2010-2011).
