Geographers investigate urban/rural fringe change

Geographers from Portsmouth have won a substantial grant from the Soddy Trust to analyse urban/rural change across a number of sites. The research team is led by Dr Humphrey Southall assisted by Paula Aucott and Dr Brian Baily.

The research will analyse past land used maps such as the Dudley Stamp surveys and compare these to more recent data collected by remote sensing techniques. For more information on historic land use map visit the Vision of Britain website.
