Fees and funding

To undertake a postgraduate research degree you will need to have access to sufficient funds to cover the relevant fees and maintenance.

You may apply for a place before you are fully qualified or have secured funding for the research, and having an offer of a place may be of assistance if you need to apply to grant giving bodies. We may be able to assist with identifying potential funding sources and providing supporting letters. Please note, however, that an offer of a place is not a guarantee of funding.

Postgraduate Scholarships

Scholarships from the University of Portsmouth and external sources may be available for new postgraduates to help cover tuition fees and living expenses.

Find out about our current scholarship holders and how University of Portsmouth scholarships help them pursue their outstanding ideas.

For more information about scholarships please contact the appropriate faculty admissions team.

Funded PhD projects

PhD projects are available throughout the year, some of which are funded. Currently available projects are advertised in the projects directory.
