Graduate School

All new PhD students must attend the three day ‘Getting Started with your PhD’ event. 

For those starting in February 2013 the event will be held 6th -7th February.  Your faculty and/or department may organise local welcome events on 5th February 2013.

The Getting Started with your PhD event will provide you with:

• introductions to the key personnel involved in the Graduate School and registration of your research degree
• understanding of what is different about doctoral level postgraduate study and how to prepare for it
• opportunities to meet other research degree students and supervisors from you department, Faculty and the wider university as a whole.  During the three days you will be introduced to the Graduate School Development Programme (GSDP) and events, and shown how to login to the Skills Forge software.

Students who are in their second year of PhD registration or beginning Stage 2 of their professional doctorate also may be interested in attending the ‘Getting on with your PhD' event.
